Boston Sports Clubs Salutes First Responders in Boston

IMG_6145

I am constantly in awe of first responders in the Boston area.

I watch the show Boston EMS on ABC (in it’s second season – I recommend it).

I have an Uncle that’s a firefighter in MA & his wife, my Aunt & God Mother, is a 911 operator in the same city.

So, with love of first responders in my heart, I wanted to spread the word that Boston Sports Clubs is honoring first responders with free memberships in August.

Boston Sports Clubs is honoring the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to save the lives of others by deeming August, “First Responder Appreciation Month.” Throughout August, the company is offering complimentary gym memberships to all police, fire, EMS and military personnel, inviting them to work out for free at any Greater Boston location, including Back Bay, Newbury Street, Prudential Center, Downtown Crossing, Beacon Hill, South End, South Station, Fenway, and Government Center.

To any first responders who are already members, they may bring a guest for free workouts throughout August.

Parent company Town Sports International has a long history supporting first responders, dating back to 2003 when the company partnered with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to provide memberships for over 10,000 candidates so they had free access to train for the FDNY physical exam – the department’s first exam following the events of  September 11, 2001. The offer complements the recently launched Bravest & Finest workout, a workout inspired by the physical challenges required to become a first responder.

“We recognize the tremendous physical and mental commitment that it takes to be a first responder,” said Michelle Ryan, CMO of Town Sports International. “We are truly grateful to all the men and women who respond without hesitation to protect and serve our neighborhoods and appreciate their daily commitment to keeping us safe.”

The first responders’ complimentary membership at Boston Sports Clubs runs through August 31, 2016. For more information on membership details and club locations, please visit www.mysportsclubs.com.

Capture a Pokemon, Get a Free Gym Membership at Boston Sports Clubs

Despite server issues this weekend as more countries were able to join Pokemon Go, I’m still a big fan. Since I last wrote, I’ve gotten to Level 17 and have gone on a few Pokemon hunts with my husband & in-laws.

Boston Sports Club is having a fun promotion around Pokemon Go.

From July 18th through the end of the month (July 31), Boston Sports Clubs is encouraging Pokemon enthusiasts to take their obsession to the next level while getting a good workout, and sharing their finds on Instagram to win.

Simply screenshot of any Pokemon you find at any BSC location, and Instagram that screenshot photo with @bsc_gym and #BSCPokemon tags for a chance to win.

BSC members score a free month membership – nonmembers are welcome to play to win a free week membership by mentioning “Pokemon Promo” at the front desk.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and will need to show photo ID. Regular restrictions apply. To find a club near you, please visit, www.mysportsclubs.com

I’ve seen nonoprofits set up Pokemon Go promos, but this is the first gym I’ve seen embrace Pokemon Go.

Readers, let me know if you’re playing Pokemon Go and plan to enter this contest.

Good luck!

Here’s yet another free fitness class to get on your calendar: Move Sweat Love Pilates Bootcamp.

MSL Pilates Bootcamp is returning to the North End Greenway for a 4th season and it’s better than ever!  Created and led by renowned Pilates instructor & PUMA Team Faster Trainer, Ali Baldassare, you will experience her signature Pilates Fusion Bootcamp which combines creative cardio drills, classical pilates sequencing, and innovative core exercises designed to challenge, strengthen, & tone your entire body.   DJ Johnathan Oh will be live on set spinning the hottest beats to create a unique and motivating environment to keep you moving!  PUMA will be providing swag to each participant to use during the event and take home afterward.  Essentia Water will be there providing hydration for all!

I sadly can’t make either June class this year, so I’m hoping they continue after June.

I’ve been to previous classes Ali hosted on the Greenway though and loved them! I highly recommend checking out her classes.

Here are my posts on other classes with Ali that I’ve attended:

You know I love free fitness and try to make this blog a source of info for you on free fitness opportunities whenever I find them.

I haven’t decided yet which of these classes will be added to my schedule.

Summer in MA has an abundance of free fitness, in addition to year round November Project, so that’s triggered 2 posts in a row for me about free fitness classes.
