The theme for the February photo blogging challenge was “Leap”.
I decided to interpret that as “take the leap” and get pictures of some of my adventures this month.
One of the benefits of living so close to Boston, is I get to attend advance screenings of movies. (Movie studios host these free screenings so the press can see the movie for review. They fill the theater with people like me in hopes that the crowd reaction enhances the reviewers opinion of the movie.)
The first movie I saw this February was “Pride Prejudice and Zombies”.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I “took the leap” to attend and actually enjoyed the movie.
The joke about weather in my state is “If you don’t like it, wait a few minutes. It will change!” That is certainly true in February. We’ve had 10 degree & 56 degree weather in the same week this month.
On a particularly cold say (when newscasters were warning that exposed skin could get frostbite with 30 minutes outside) I visited my friend Marina and her 1 year old boy. Marina needed to go to an appointment and was planning to go by train, but I had a car and no other appointments that day so I told her I’d drive her and her baby instead.
The baby fell asleep in my car, so I “took the leap” and said, “Don’t wake him! I can take care of him while you’re at your appointment.” He was adorable & asleep for about 25 minutes before he woke up scream crying. Oh well!
I was walking around a flea market when I saw this item and thought “It takes a leap of creativity to think of combining those two universes.”
Yoda/Alf made ma smile and the shop keeper had fun telling me about why he made it.
One of my favorite places in MA is the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. Until this challenge, I’d never thought to look up and see what was written on the top of the building. When I was able to take a leap to try a new vantage point, I was overjoyed to find this.
Finally, I was out taking a walk on one of our warmer weather days, and I decided to head down a road I’d never walked on before. Taking a leap to try new things lead me to this beautiful mural!
This monthly photo blogging challenge is facilitated by PJ of the Northeast Bloggers Network.
Thanks for inspiring me to take more photos!
Nice photos this month, I like getting a glimpse into Boston life.
Thanks Kathy!
This is a beautiful collection of shots for leap. I will have to check out the zombie one. I love campy silly movies and I of course like zombies too. 🙂
Your stories for each picture were wonderful. I especially love the baby picture and story… it made me smile!
Thanks Katherine!
My friend doesn’t post any photos of her son on the internet so I thought the car seat photo was a good wat to show him without showing his face. ☺
That mural is on the top of the library in Boston? I Have never seen it, either, and I have walked by there a thousand times.
The writing is on top of the library engraved.
I never noticed it till I crossed the street to visit Sweetgreen and stared at the library from across the street to see if there was a picture possibility for this challenge.
I’ve been visiting the BPL for over 14 years, so it’s amazing what goes unnoticed till you change your vantage point. 🙂
Such a cool subject and ideas for your taking a leap. Snippets of life that make us sit back and reflect on how little words can weave into our everyday life.
The zombie movie looks too scary for me! Every time I see anything even a little bit scary I can’t sleep for days!
Those are great photos! I may start something like this on my blog.
You should join our photo blogging challenge! The 3rd year anniversary of the challenge so the March theme is “3”.
I love Boston. The changing seasons is my very favorite part. Here in Washington we have a saying as well. “If you can see Mt. Rainier, it’s about to rain. If you can’t see Mt. Rainier, it’s already raining”!
Ha! I’ll have to remember that when I visit Seattle in a few weeks. (My god-kids & their parents live there.)
Congrats on a month of taking leaps. I took a big step this month as well.
I know I’m ready for spring and I live in the south. I am glad our temps haven’t fallen as low as yours!
oh how fun – I love participating in photo challenges but I never remember to do all of them for the month. lol
That’s why I like that this one is only 5 photos. If you forget, you can whip something up in a day or 2 at the end of the month.
I haven’t done a photo challenge in forever. Great photos for the month.
Alf was my fav TV show when I was little. I watched in Ukrainian and the translation was even better the the original. Missed it so much
OMG I absolutely LOVE that Alf Yoda!!! I need to find one of those! That would make a perfect gift for one of my friends. He is a Star Wars fanatic.
The vendor had Alf with broken ears and found a kids halloween costume of yoda to put on him. 🙂
Sounds like a really fun month! I haven’t done a photo challenge before, but this looks like a good one! Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite movies, I haven’t decided if I can make the leap to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies yet 🙂
PPZ has enough of P&P in it that you’d probably like the movie.
These are such fun photos! I haven’t ever done a photo challenge before but it looks like an absolute blast!
Oh I LOVE this prompt! I tend to leap even when I shouldn’t. 😉 I heard Pride and Prejudice Zombies was good and I kinda want to see it!
PPZ is fun. Just the right mix of P&P to zombies. My husband enjoyed the movie and he hadn’t read either book.
Beautiful shots for month! I haven’t done many photo challenges but they’re fun.
Southern Soul
What a great compilation of photos! I love the idea of taking a leap and you using the warm weather to go to a new area!
I love Boston! You took some great leaps! Now I have to find this Pride and Prejudice Zombies.
We have that joke about weather in Missouri as well. You chose five fantastic leaps for the month. Alf Yoda? Hmmmm……not too sure about that. 🙂
How funny, I used to watch ALF all the time and you don’t see it very often.
Nice take on the theme. I was looking for a library photo – glad to see one, especially one that shares a little-noticed aspect of the exterior.
It’s a different library than the one I usually feature in this challenge, so I guess that shows a leap to change my routine & go to Boston instead of Quincy for the library. 🙂
Oh…I think I missed that nuance as I was reading all the PBC posts last night. Thanks for setting me straight. And yes, I’d say that’s a bit of a leap wrt to your usual routine.

Great set of photos for February’s theme. The Alf photo made me chuckle. I used to love that show. And the Quincy mural is really nice. It is always nice to take a leap and explore new spots, isn’t it?
Thanks P.J.!
